Cause awareness materials that grab your heart.

THE CHALLENGE

Holding Out HELP provides polygamists the means to leave polygamy. They were needing a new approach to fundraising and were not quite sure what to do. They needed to increase donations and bring more awareness to the plight of polygamists leaving their community.

MY APPROACH

I had been volunteering for them for a while and approached them with an idea. I suggested that they bring a "face" to their promotions, something that would grab the hearts of people, bring in new donors and keep the existing ones. More awareness, which brings in more money, could be had by telling the stories of some of their clients, what they had gone through, and the outcome of receiving assistance from Holding Out HELP.


After many strategic discussions, and determining who we could ask to be a part of this campaign, we set out to make this happen. I interviewed over seven different families and individuals, learning about their hardships and hearing their story of leaving and survival. I also travelled down to Colorado City and took pictures and spoke with people living there. A compelling campaign tagline, along with the black and white images set the tone which resulted in a very successful campaign fundraiser.


This project truly became part of me. My respect and love for these individuals and families filled by heart to bursting. I was honored to be a part of helping them become successful and lead normal lives outside of polygamy.
